Discover engineering solutions to the technical and environmental challenges facing those conducting high risk lifting at our Nuclear Lifting Seminar - the only event of its kind.

Don't miss this latest edition of this popular seminar, dedicated to lifting projects in the nuclear industry and supporting the engineers and professionals involved. Attend to explore long term strategies, unique safety cases and cost-effective design that meet regulated standards. Furthermore, understand how best to conduct complex and high risk lifts on decommissioning, operational and new build nuclear sites.

If you are involved in any lifting projects at your sites, don't miss your chance to be a part of this growing community and get detailed, technical information of lifting projects taking place in this industry and take back key learnings and best practice to enhance safety, minimise risk, and remain compliant with industry regulation.

Confirmed speakers in 2026 include representatives from Office for Nuclear Regulation, Atkins Realis, LEEA, Sir Robert McAlpine, Sellafield, CERN, AWE, NRS Dourneay, Hinkley Point C, SCX and EDF Nuclear Services - book to be a part of the discussions and knowledge sharing

What to expect in 2026:

  • Stay compliant: understand the implications of the New Machinery Regulation and get practical guidance on latest industry regulations direct from the Office for Nuclear Regulation.
  • Lessons learned from active sites: NRS Dounreay, EDF Nuclear and AWE share insights from recent projects and lifting failures, together with updates to safety cases, lift planning, and risk assessments.
  • International perspectives: hear how projects are carried out at CERN (Switzerland) and EES (Sweden) and take away fresh perspectives for ensuring safety and managing risk.
  • Best practice for complex lifting operations: Sellafield, Sir Robert McAlpine, LEEA and others share considerations for strengthening assurance and safety
  • Expanded networking: meet, network with, and learn from attendees at the Crane Safety event, taking place at the same time and location to enhance opportunities to collaborate

From our event chair

"As the nuclear sector progresses major new build and decommissioning programmes, safe and reliable lifting equipment and lifting operations remain critical across the lifecycle of nuclear facilities.

The 2024 conference brought together regulators, duty holders, operators and engineering specialists to explore key nuclear lifting challenges, including ONR risk management, crane integrity and inspection, predictive maintenance, and project updates from major programmes such as Hinkley Point C, alongside case studies on steam generator removal and specialised in-cell crane design for ITER. The landscape of nuclear lifting continues to evolve rapidly. This year promises even more insight, expertise and practical takeaways, including Regulatory perspectives, relevant good practice and some interesting case studies. We look forward to welcoming you this November."

Two great events - one location

Nuclear Lifting 2026 is being held co-located with Crane Safety 2026, giving attendees access to two specialist lifting events in one location and date, broadening the professional community you’ll engage with. This alignment offers an excellent chance to network with a wider audience of engineers and safety professionals, attend sessions from both Nuclear Lifting and Crane Safety seminars and deepen your knowledge across different lifting contexts.

Don't take our word for it...

Rating

"The content exceeded my expectations, and very much built on my existing knowledge of Safety Case, Crane installation tolerances, designing for existing plant constraints. Helpful discussion included holistic hazard management, predictive through life maintenance, and RCA. It was gratifying to find colleagues across the industry sharing RGP, which I considered normal practice in my work, regular reference to standards and regulations, and the variety of solutions to deeply technical challenges".

Cavendish Nuclear Ltd.

Rating

"Events like this are when you realise you’re not alone, contacts can be made to explore previous experience and implement RGP."

AWE

Rating

"Excellent opportunity to share/gain Learning from Experience (LFE) and Relevant Good Practice (RGP) from peers within the Nuclear Industry. Also provides a great platform to network and develop relationships with peers to facilitate bench marking and further learning/sharing of RGP".

Sellafield Ltd

Rating

"Very relevant to work our business is involved in. Some great case studies demonstrating the challenges encountered across sites in the UK, presented by industry experts."

Aquila Nuclear Engineering

Rating

"This is the sixth time I have been at this event (as both an delegate and exhibitor), and it is always the best industry event I have been to. Being a supplier of lifting equipment to the nuclear industry, it helps to showcase our products, network with relevant people and also attend technical lectures which help further our knowledge. From an attendee point of view, I couldn't ask for more".
